Architecture in its Continuums and Somewhere Other, designed by Stuart Geddes, have been shortlisted for the New Zealand Best Design Awards. Both books are finalists in the category of Editorial and Books.
Held annually by the Designers Institute of New Zealand, the Best Design Awards are a showcase of excellence in graphic, spatial, product, interactive and motion design. The awards are announced on 22 September.
Architecture in its Continuums lays down the highly influential creative philosophies of Leon van Schaik AO, Professor of Architecture at RMIT University for 30 years and mentor to countless Australian architects. Geddes' design treatment of Architecture in its Continuums extended to incorporating extracts from Van Schaik's personal sketchbooks, which can be properly examined in lay-flat binding.
Somewhere Other unravels the motivations, design processes and collaborations behind John Wardle Architects' installation at the Arsenale Exhibition at the 2018 Venice Biennale. More than an exhibition catalogue, Somewhere Other is a rich reflection on the ideas and design philosophy embedded within the practice of one of Australia’s foremost contemporary architectural practices.
